The following figure, based on EPA data, shows the estimated change in greenhouse gas emissions from various alternative fuels: I will argue coal to liquids is not part of the solution-and would in fact make the problem worse. We are all grappling with how best to avoid catastrophic global warming. In that capacity, I helped manage the largest program in the world for working with businesses to develop and use clean energy technologies.
